Aa BackIf you’re planting trees on your land you may be eligible for a grant to assist with costs from the Ministry for Primary Industries.
They provide grants of $1,300 a hectare for landowners to plant new small to medium-sized forests of between 5 hectares to 300 hectares. The initiative is designed to improve the environment by increasing carbon absorption and reducing land erosion.
You can plant native or exotic trees and your application can include a mix of forest species provided the species can grow to at least five metres in the place you have planted them.
The funding round for 2018 opened on February 23rd and closes on May 14th.
